The word ‘nifaq’ means vileness, hypocrisy and cheating, having bilateral arttiude to something. It means to express obedience externally by suppressing the disobedience at heart. In the Islamic terminology, concealing the kufr and disobedience at heart, uttering the sentences of faith and celebrating different occasions for publicity of faith is called ‘nifaq’. The person who behaves in such a manner is called a Munafiq.
